The popular webtoon “Love Alarm” will be turned into a reality show after being converted into a drama.
Kakao Entertainment announced the development of a new survival dating reality program based on the popular webtoon “Love Alarm” on May 20th. The public will be able to apply for “Love Alarm” participants until May 31st.
According to the production team, anyone wishing for “real love” can join “Love Alarm” regardless of age, employment, or dating experience. Interviews will be used to choose the final participants.
The premise of “Love Alarm” is based on author Chun Kye Young’s original webtoon of the same name, which was serialized on Kakao Webtoon. It’s about fictitious software that alerts you when someone likes you comes within a 10-meter radius.
“Love Alarm,” which began serialization in 2014 and recently concluded season 9, is an internationally successful webtoon with over 5 billion views. It was converted into a Netflix original series in 2019 and was greenlit for two seasons.
Kim Min Jong, CP of Kakao Entertainment and producer of “Real Men” and “Wannabe Ryan,” will direct “Love Alarm.” “Love Alarm” is supposed to portray the delicate and subtle emotional shifts of individuals looking for love and the thrill of a romantic adventure filled with excitement and suspense.
After Kakao Entertainment presented a new trend in dating reality shows with “Change Days”, viewers are wondering if they can continue to succeed with “Love Alarm”.
CP Kim Min Jong said, “In addition to the actual implementation of the Love Alarm app in the webtoon, we will bring more fun by introducing various configurations and unique rules for participants. We look forward to the participation of many courageous individuals who want to find true love through dating survival.”
