Kdrama Actresses Who Fell Under the Radar

Ever wondered what was missing in a drama? Or where do some movie stars run off to? Some of the most recent K-dramas that have been made available to us have brought back some of the game’s oldies and Hallyu stars, such as Han So Hee in Soundtrack, Jun Ji-hyun in Jirisan, and so on, while others are yet to be seen on screen. Here are some of the female personalities we miss seeing on screen.

1. Koo Hye Sun

She rose to popularity for her part as Geum Jan-di in the blockbuster hit KBS2 drama Boys Over Flowers, in which she co-starred with Lee Min-ho, which helped her earn pan-Asian acclaim.

In the MBC channel’s two-part documentary drama, Heo Nanseolheon, Koo returned to the stage after a two-year hiatus. She also contributed to the narration and production of the show.

In 2014, Koo made a small screen comeback as an actor in SBS’s weekend drama Angel Eyes. She was also cast in the low-rated series Blood, and she then joined the cast of MBC’s weekend drama You’re Too Much, alongside Uhm Jung-hwa. She did, however, leave the show after two weeks owing to health issues and since then has been MIA in the acting field.

2. Yoon Eun-hye

Despite taking numerous measures to make a comeback in her acting profession, she was unable to do so. Yoon’s big break came with princess hours and coffee prince.

Yoon appeared in KBS’ romantic comedy My Fair Lady in 2009, playing an arrogant, strong-willed heiress from a wealthy family; she was highly criticized for her unnatural voice and accent, as well as her regression in acting skills. Yoon returned to the big screen after a five-year absence with the 2010 film My Black Mini Dress and the SBS rom-com series Lie to Me (2011). However, neither endeavor was commercially successful. Yoon returned to the Korean entertainment scene in 2017 as a regular on tvN’s variety show Dear Pet, We Need to Talk. Yoon was cast in Love Alert in 2018. This was her return to television after a five-year hiatus since her last drama, Marry Him If You Dare, in 2013.

Yoon starred in the two-episode romance drama Go Go Song in 2019 and has not been seen on TV since.

3. Lee Tae Im

She played a lead role in the drama “Don’t Hesitate,” as well as several supporting ones. Her most recent play was “The Lady in Dignity.” She was then embroiled in a scandal and was forced to withdraw from a shoot for the drama “My tutor friend.” She became pregnant and married a businessman in 2018. Following that,  Lee Tae Im’s husband was reportedly sentenced for financial fraud by obtaining illicit gains by artificially raising the stock prices of targeted firms, and with that, the actress formally announced her retirement from acting and went under the radar.

4.  Baek Jin-hee

Baek made her debut as the evil empress Tanashiri in the period drama Empress Ki (2013-2014). She then played an orphaned casino dealer in the melodrama Triangle (2014), and a passionate prosecutor in the legal drama Pride and Prejudice (2014).

In 2015, Baek starred as the main lead in the blockbuster family drama My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol, which had a national viewership of 33.6 percent.

In 2017, Baek starred in the catastrophe drama Missing 9 and the office comedy series Jugglers. Baek was later cast as the female lead in the third iteration of the Let’s Eat franchise in 2018. She appeared in the webtoon-based rom-com drama “Feel Good to Die” the same year and since then has not made a comeback.
